Bridge Repairs Prompt Trail Closures in Elgin, April 24 - May 5

Kane County Forest Preserve 4/23/2023 11:00AM

A portion of the Elgin Township Trail, south of Voyageur Landing Forest Preserve in Elgin, will be closed between April 24 and May 5 for bridge repairs along the trail.

The project area is south of Interstate 90 at
West River Road in Elgin Township. The Elgin Township Trail serves as an extension of the Fox
River Trail, and leads to the west side of the Fox
River.

From April 24-28, the Forest Preserve District

of Kane County will be upgrading bridge

decking and railings. Trail users may experience

intermittent closures, during that time.

Once deck and railing upgrades are completed, concrete work will take place from approximately
May 1-5, pending weather.

The bridge and trail will be closed to the public, during the concrete portion of the project. Please plan ahead and identify alternate routes.
The Forest Preserve District asks trail users to obey all signs and barricades, and to use caution when
traveling near equipment on the trail. Signs will be posted on both sides of the construction area, to alert trail users to the project.
