Kane County Undersheriff Comes Out on Top in 23rd Annual Shopping Spree
Kane County Farm Bureau's 23rd Shopping Spree contestants sprang into action Monday, February 26, 10:30 a.m. at the Batavia Jewel-Osco on Randall Rd.
This year's participants were Kane County Undersheriff Amy Johnson and Kane County State's Attorney Jamie Mosser. At the end of their 5+ minute shopping spree, Johnson came out on top with $2,838.96 in groceries to Mosser's $2,020.42. See photos from the event below.
The public was invited to attend to watch these two public-spirited professionals race through the aisles and gather as many groceries as possible to restock the shelves of local food pantries. Each contestant arrived at check-out with multiple shopping carts loaded with groceries to benefit the food pantry of their choice.
The shopping pair was cheered on by Jewel-Osco store employees, Kane County Farm Bureau representatives, and shoppers and on-lookers. Johnson represented Support Over Stigma of St. Charles and Mosser represented Elgin's Community Crisis Center.
The event has contributed over $40,000 in groceries to area food pantries since its inception.
