Kane County DOT Annual Pavement Marking Program

KDOT Media Release 8/18/2026 3:00PM

The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) is scheduled to conduct its annual pavement marking work beginning this week (August 17, 2026 ), weather permitting. The work will include the installation of both painted and urethane pavement markings on County highways.

Fresh paint pavement markings will be applied to approximately 236 miles of County highways, primarily on rural routes, to improve lane visibility for motorists.

Urethane pavement markings will be installed on approximately 17 miles of County highways. Urethane provides a more durable alternative to water-based paint and is used primarily on higher-traffic routes to improve the longevity of pavement markings.

Temporary daily lane closures will be in place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to safely complete the work. Temporary flagger control at intersections will be used as needed throughout the routes.

Motorists are asked to slow down, watch for workers and equipment on the roadway and shoulders, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution when traveling through freshly marked areas.

Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2026, weather permitting.

Please see the maps for pavement marking locations.

Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. It is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
