Award Winning Manager and Project at Kane County Division of Transportation
Congratulations to the Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) for picking up two honors during an annual awards event hosted by the Fox Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA).
During the ceremony, association members recognized KDOT’s Steve Coffinbargar as the Professional Manager of the Year. Coffinbargar is the Assistant Director of Project Implementation and has been with KDOT for 19 years. In his tenure, Coffinbargar has had a significate role in the completion of five priority projects in Kane County that include; Stearns Bridge Corridor, Anderson Road overpass in Elburn, Longmeadow Parkway, the full Interchange at I‐90 & Route 47, and the widening of Orchard Road.
“Steve's strength lies in his ability to bring his team, agencies and others together for successful projects even when faced with environmental, design, and funding challenges," said KDOT Executive Director Carl Schoedel. “His career and outstanding achievements exemplify the best of transportation professionals and inspires excellence, leadership, and dedication within public works."
Additionally, KDOT's project to construct a roundabout and intersection
realignment at Bliss/Main/Fabyan Parkway in Blackberry Township received
recognition from the APWA. This project, which has improved efficiency,
motorist safety, and traffic flow, was funded locally by Kane County
and provides an alternate route between Route 47 and Randall Road.
The $11.9 million capital improvement was funded locally by Kane County and provides an alternate route between Route 47 and Randall Road.
The project is also up for similar award in the Chicago regional and will be submitted for recognition on a national level as well.
