Kane County Board Takes Oath of Office During Ceremonial Event
Kane County Board members, along with Chairman Corinne Pierog, celebrated the start of their new terms during a ceremonial inauguration on December 9.
Chairman Pierog offered welcoming remarks encouraging the newly seated board to work in a bipartisan manner and find common ground for the common good.
"As you take on this notable role, you inherit both an opportunity and a responsibility," said Chairman Pierog. "You have the opportunity to make meaningful changes that can improve the quality of life for our constituents. Your ideas, leadership, and passion will be pivotal in addressing the challenges we face, from enhancing our infrastructure to supporting public safety."
Sixteenth Circuit Court Chief Judge Robert Villa administered the oath of office.
Returning board members include Dale Berman (District 2), Mavis Bates (District 4), Michelle Gumz (District 8), Bill Tarver (District 10), Bill Roth (District 12), Rich Williams (District 18), Cherryl Fritz Strathmann (District 20), Vern Tepe (District 22), and Jarett Sanchez (District 24).
The board also welcomed three new members: Ted Penesis (District 16), Jonathan Gripe (District 14), and Sonia Garcia (District 8).
Kane County Board members also serve as Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. They are also appointed to 13 different committees that review and debate the merits of county expenses, policies, and procedures.
