Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Squeaky

Every cat and dog in any animal shelter have their own personal back story, their own history as to how they wound up living there rather than a fur-ever home.

The stories can sometimes be difficult. They range from something as simple as getting owner-surrendered because of landlord restrictions to getting abandoned on the side of the road or a forest preserve. 

And that is where we pick up Squeaky's story. He is a 3-year-old, neutered, orange tabby Domestic Shorthair allegedly left in a filthy carrier—beside a dumpster—in a garbage bag.

Happily, that is not where Squeaky's story ends.

He was found and brought to KCAC where he has been getting the best of care along with a lot of great petting sessions by staff.

Squeaky comes by his name honestly. He's not one to just throw out a few meows whenever he's happy. Rather, he chooses to give a couple of happy squeaks instead. I mean, seriously, any cat can meow, but that just doesn't express his true feelings of joy, especially when someone takes the time to visit him and give him cuddles. Giving a few squeaks absolutely let's everyone know how happy he is.

Squeaky is a loving and gentle little guy. Toys aren't of much interest to him. It's people he enjoys hanging around, especially if he can sit on their lap. He will follow whoever is available everywhere hoping against hope that they will want to pick him up and give him a hug.

Other than spending time with people, he seems to get along with other cats as long as they want to get along with him. He won't push them to like him, he will just put his head down and give a couple of happy squeaks.

Who couldn't fall in love with that?

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee for dogs is $200 and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300 and it is $150 to adopt two cats.
