Artwork Donation Celebrates Adoption at Kane County Animal Control
The Kane County Board recently approved a donation to the Kane County Animal Control, thanks to the generosity of local artist Caroline Barnard. Caroline donated a vibrant 16-by-20 acrylic painting titled “Primary Pets”, featuring a cat, a dog, and a fish. The artwork wasn’t just a random creation, it was inspired by her two beloved adopted cats, Jack and Zelda, whom she welcomed into her home back in 2017 after adopting them from Kane County Animal Control.
A longtime advocate for pet adoption, Caroline wanted to share the joy and importance of rescuing animals with the community. She created the piece herself and chose Kane County Animal Control as its new home. The facility plans to display the painting in the animal viewing room, where potential adopters spend time meeting animals to see if they’ve found their perfect match.
“I love the story behind the inspiration for the artwork,” Kane County Animal Control Director Brett Youngsteadt said. "That it came from our animals and our facility, with such an important message, it’s just perfect.”
