Kane County Animal Control Pet of the Week - Astra

KCAC's Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control. 5/26/2024 6:00PM

“Dogs don't lie. A dog's tail is a strikingly honest window to their souls." Jim Hillibish, journalist, The Repository newspaper.

She's actually kind of small and petite for a Siberian Husky, although she is a mix. She doesn't even weigh 30 pounds, but her large dark eyes keep track of whoever is giving her sweet pets at the moment, just in case they also want to give her a hug, or play with her, or, maybe even, take her home.   astra3.jpg

Her name is Astra, derived from the Greek word “aster" which means “star. She's all of 3-years-old, but we can only speculate about her background.

She was originally found as a stray, which is almost unfathomable, because her personality is so sweet and easy going. She looks forward to spending time with everyone, even keeping tabs on them by “velcroing" herself to whoever is available to pet her.

She gives off a vibe of playfulness and lightness, especially when she meets another dog. Her tail wags continuously as she attempts to engage other canines in playing with her. It would be so wonderful if her new adopted family already had a dog she could play with. That would almost be a Disney dream come true.

Astra's smile and personality will light up any constellation she inhabits. She just needs an opportunity to allow that light to shine!    astra4.jpg

KCAC Pupdates

Congratulations to Sienna, the 4-month-old Pit Bull, Cane Corso puppy with a personality that just doesn't stop. She literally couldn't stop jumping and wiggling in the lobby as she went to each person to say her goodbyes. She couldn't wait to pull her new family members out the door so she could begin her new life.  We are so proud of you, Sienna.
