Kane County Launches 2027 Road Improvement Plan Update, Seeks Public Input at Hearing Nov. 18
The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) has initiated the 2027 update of its Comprehensive Road Improvement Plan (CRIP)—a required element of the County's Road Impact Fee Program. Established in 2004 and updated every five years in accordance with Illinois state law, the program helps fund roadway infrastructure improvements needed to accommodate new development. To do that responsibly, the County must base its program on current and defensible land use assumptions — projections of how and where Kane County will grow over the next 20 years in terms of households, population, and employment.
The County's consultant, Parametrix, has used the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's officially adopted 2050 regional forecasts as the foundation (forecasts were adopted in 2018 and updated in 2023). Those data have been refined to reflect local development patterns and aggregated to the township level for use in our travel demand model, which connects future growth to roadway needs and, ultimately, to the impact fee schedule.
The County Board has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4–7 p.m. in the Kane County Government Center Auditorium to receive feedback on the proposed land use assumptions. There is also an option to attend the public hearing using an online meeting platform at https://engage-parametrix.com/kane-county-impact-fee-program/.
The County encourages participation from residents, municipal staff, and other stakeholders. The public can learn more and share feedback through the project website: 👉 https://engage-parametrix.com/kane-county-impact-fee-program/
