Kane County Health Department Hiring Public Health Associate to Support Nurse-Family Partnership Program

​The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) is accepting applications for a Public Health Associate (Grant-Funded) to support the Nurse-Family Partnership program, also known locally as Kane Kares, a maternal-child home visitation program serving families in Kane County.

This full-time position (35 hours per week) plays a key role in promoting population health by supporting nurses and families through a combination of clinical assistance, administrative support, outreach, and bilingual medical interpretation. The Public Health Associate works in our Aurora or Elgin offices, client's homes and community settings.

“This position is essential to supporting mothers, babies, and families during critical stages of pregnancy and early childhood," said Michael Isaacson, KCHD Executive Director. “By assisting nurses and providing culturally responsive, bilingual support, the Public Health Associate helps ensure families receive high-quality, accessible care."

  4. Salary: $15.06 – $18.83 per hour
  5. Schedule: 35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Assisting Registered Nurses with health care services in clinic, home, and community settings
  2. Performing clerical, technical, and administrative support duties
  3. Conducting outreach activities to support maternal-child health services
  4. Providing bilingual (English/Spanish) medical interpretation for clients and families

Minimum Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred
  2. Bilingual English/Spanish required; medical interpretation certification preferred
  3. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  4. Empathy, cultural competence, and a client-centered approach
  5. Valid Illinois driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation
  6. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
