Meredith Road Closure for UPRR Crossing Reconstruction in Virgil Township

Weather permitting, on Friday, November 14, the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will close Meredith Road at the railroad crossing located approximately ΒΌ mile north of IL Route 38 in Virgil Township.
This full road closure is required to safely reconstruct the railway crossing and improve the riding surface for motorists traveling on Meredith Road.
The road is scheduled to close at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14th, and is expected to reopen by 7:00 a.m. on Monday,
November 17th, weather dependent.
The posted detour route will use Beith Road, Thatcher Road, N. Broadway Street, Liberty Street, Main Street, County Line Road, and Keslinger Road to direct traffic around the construction area (see map).
Motorists should be prepared to reduce speed, exercise caution, and obey all traffic control signage throughout the work zone.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. It is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
