Kane County Office of Emergency Management - New Volunteer Open Houses

The Kane County Office of Emergency Management relies on the vital contributions of volunteers and is seeking dedicated individuals to join its team. On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 6:30–8:30 PM, the office will host a New Volunteer Open House at 37W699 Illinois Route 38, St. Charles (in the same building as the Kane County Coroner's Office).  There will also been another Open House on March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the leadership team, explore equipment, and learn about the office’s role in serving the community. The event will provide information about the New Member Academy, training programs, time commitments, and available volunteer opportunities.

The office is actively recruiting for several divisions, including:

  • Ground Search and Rescue: Locating missing or endangered individuals locally and beyond.
  • Field Response: Supporting traffic control, lighting, and related tasks.
  • Communications: Operating radio systems in the mobile command vehicle and Emergency Operations Center.
  • Planners: Developing incident action plans for disaster response.
  • Situation Unit: Analyzing data and mapping disaster scope and severity.
  • Social Media: Managing accounts, creating content, and expanding outreach efforts.
  • Video Production: Filming and editing videos for recruiting and preparedness initiatives.

The event offers a chance to learn how individual talents can contribute to the community, with no obligation to join.​
