Illinois EV Rebate Program Reopens

Sarra Hinshaw, Kane County Sustainablity Manager 2/7/2025 10:00AM

Sustain Kane wants residents to know that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) announced their opening of the next round of funding for the Illinois Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program. This EV Rebate Program was made possible through the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), which was passed in 2021 by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Prizker. CEJA works to phase out carbon emissions in transportation sectors, as well as to make the purchase and ownership of electric vehicles more affordable and accessible for Illinois residents. This year, the General Assembly allocated $14 million to the Illinois EV Rebate Program.

If you are a current Illinois resident and have purchased an all-electric vehicle in Illinois from an Illinois-licensed dealer, you could be eligible for this rebate. Apply for a $4,000 rebate for the purchase of a new or used all-electric vehicle, or a $1,500 rebate for the purchase of a new or used all-electric motorcycle. For more information on eligibility requirements or to access the application, follow this link.

While the due date to apply is April 30, 2025, because of the Program's popularity it is expected that the funds will run out before the application deadline; therefore, applying early is recommended for a better chance of receiving the rebate. Additionally, low-income applicants are given priority for rebates. Apply for your rebate before funds deplete!
