What’s Open, What’s Closed For Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, MLK Day in Kane County
Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year falls on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022.
That day is also the National Day of Service, observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off.”
MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
What’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year in Kane County, IL, is different than it was last year. Despite the Omicron surge, most businesses remain open. Last year, many of the traditional events went virtual, and “what’s open” depended in part on government and business response to the Tier 3 mitigations in place at that time.
All schools have the day off Monday.
