Batavia Mourns Loss of Wrestling Star, ‘Bachelorette’ Contestant Clint Arlis

The Batavia community is mourning the loss of Clint Arlis, 34, a high school and college wrestling star and a past contestant on “The Bachelorette.”


According to police and media reports, Arlis was found dead Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2022) at a private residence on Papermill Hill Drive.

Police do not suspect foul play in the death.

Arlis was an architectural engineer and was a star wrestler at Batavia High School and the University of Illinois.

Scott Bayor, Arlis’  high school coach, mourned Arlis’ passing in a Twitter post.

“It is with a heavy heart and a sense of profound loss that we announce the death of one of the Batavia Wrestling Program’s All-Time greats, 2005 graduate, Clint Arlis,” he said.

The cause of Arlis’ death had not been disclosed. This article will be updated when additional information is available from official sources.

A memorial visitation to celebrate Arlis’s life will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva, 1771 W. State St. The family asks that In lieu of flowers donations should be made to: Clint Arlis Memorial Wrestling Scholarship Fund.
