Wayne Police Department Investigating 2 Overnight Vehicle Thefts

The Wayne Police Department is investigating two vehicle thefts that occurred at around 12:30 a.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021) in the Woods of Wayne Subdivision.

One of the vehicles was taken from resident’s driveway while the vehicle was unlocked, with the keys inside the vehicle.

The second theft occurred to a vehicle parked inside the resident’s garage with the key fob left inside the vehicle. The thieves gained entry to the garage by locating another unlocked vehicle located in the victim’s driveway. The vehicle located in the driveway was unlocked and was equipped with a “HomeLink” garage door opener, which gave access to the victim’s garage.

“As a friendly reminder to all residents, be cognizant of keeping your vehicles locked, and never leave your keys or key fobs inside the vehicle. Lock your car, even in front of your house,” police officials said in a news release.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to police by calling 9-1-1.
