UPDATE: Coroner’s Office ID’s 60-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Randall Road Crash

The Kane County Coroner’s Office has identified the 60-year-old bicyclist was was struck and killed in a Sept. 8 crash at Big Timber and Randall roads.

Allan Troxel was pronounced deceased at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021) at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. An autopsy was conducted Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, and the preliminary cause of death is pending toxicology testing.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Elgin Police Department in the ongoing investigation of the incident.

According to an Elgin Police Department Facebook post, police and fire personnel responded at around 11:49 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 8, 2021) to Big Timber and Randall Road for a report of a bicyclist that had been struck by a vehicle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle being driven by a 24-year-old male was traveling south on Randall Road when it struck Troxel, who was traveling south Randall Road in the right lane along the curb and moved to the left lane, where the bicyclist and vehicle collided.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

No arrests or citations have been issued at this time, and the Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.
