Tucked into the far southwest corner of Kane County is the agricultural community of Big Rock – home of the 127th Big Rock Plowing Match & Festival scheduled for Sept. 17 to Sept. 19 at Plowman’s Park. Celebrate farming traditions featuring the plowing competition and activities for the family.
Especially for kids, there are amusement rides on Friday night, a petting zoo, old-fashioned races and games, pedal tractor pull and train rides. Enjoy the craft and art show, horse show, cattle show and vegetable and grain show. Participate in the bags tournament, round bale roll off or olde time baseball.
The Junior and Ladies Fairs showcase baked goods, canned goods, handicrafts and photos by kids and adults in competition for over $3,000 in prize money.
“It has been two years, and so much has changed,” said Big Rock Plowing Match Board President Terry Sorensen. “So it is good to be back, the third weekend in September, where things are familiar, to showcase our agricultural heritage, plow in Davis Field and gather under the oaks in Plowman’s Park.
“Be part of keeping the tradition alive by telling everyone about the Big Rock Plowing Match & Festival. I look forward to seeing you there.”
