Richard Balla Appointed Alderman of Ward 1 in St. Charles

Richard Balla was sworn in as alderman of Ward 1 at the Aug. 2, 2021, City Council Meeting.

Balla will serve the remaining two years in the term for the alderman seat. The seat was vacated when former Alderman Dan Stellato resigned June 21, 2021.

Balla is a life-long resident of St. Charles and has been a resident of the 1st Ward since 1997. He is a graduate of St. Charles High School and Iowa State University and is the vice president of accounting at Tour Edge Golf in Batavia.

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Alderman Balla,” said Mayor Lora Vitek. “He has a genuine desire to give back to his community and I am glad he stepped forward to serve as alderman. He will bring a welcome perspective to the City Council.”

Four eligible St. Charles residents applied for the seat. The candidates were interviewed by the full City Council in an executive session July 26, 2021, after which Vitek nominated Balla for appointment.

The City Council officially voted on the appointment at the Aug. 2 City Council meeting.
