Great Western Trail Parking Lot And Burnidge Forest Preserve Road Way Closed July 23 For Resurfacing

The Great Western Trail parking lot at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve and the roadway at Burnidge Forest Preserve will be closed for a chip seal resurfacing project on Friday, July 23.

Great Western Trail sign.

At LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles, the public who wants to access the Great Western Trail can use the parking lot on the north side of Dean Street at the main parking lot within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. At Burnidge Forest Preserve in Elgin, the public can use the parking lot off Big Timber Road as an alternative for access to the preserve.

This will have no effect on Paul Wolff Campground, except that visitors will need to use the Big Timber Road entrance.

Both sites are expected to reopen on Saturday, July 24. Signs will be posted at both project sites, to alert trail users.
