OVERVIEW: Florida Now The Hot Spot; More Gov Workers Required to Get Vax or Tests; Delta Could Be Further Along Than CDC Thought

Florida is recording more COVID-19 cases than any other U.S. state, as hospitalizations in some areas increase at the fastest rate since the start of the pandemic, Fox News reports.

The Department of Veterans Affairs will require its front-line health care workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a move that comes as vaccine mandates from employers are on the rise, The Hill reports.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former Food and Drug Administration commissioner, said Sunday he thinks the U.S. is further into the COVID-19 epidemic driven by the Delta variant than Centers for Disease Control and Prevention models are picking up. He said that could mean “hopefully we’re going to turn a corner” in the next two to three weeks, CBS reports.

Officials in California and New York City said Monday they would require their workers to either be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be tested at least weekly for the virus. the Wall Street Journal reports.
