The Illinois State Police, Elgin Police Department and Kane County Coroner’s Officer are investigating the drowning death of a 32-year-old Elgin man, according to a Kane County Coroner’s Office report.
According to an Elgin Police Department community notification, officers and Fire Department personnel had responded at around 1:56 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, to the Fox River under the Route 20 overpass for a report of a body in the water. A male subject was located and recovered by the Fire Department and pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a July 13 news release, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell identified the man as Dandre C. Curtis after an autopsy was performed on Friday, July 9.
Russell said the preliminary cause of death was drowning.
Toxicology samples were sent to a lab for further analysis.
The Coroner’s Office is working with the Elgin Police Department and the Illinois State Police in the investigation of the matter.
