This is an offering of helpful information on recycling for business owners and operators, as well as engaged managers and staff.

If you are a business owner please read on. If you are not, please share this article with the business owners/operators that you know! Thank you!

Please print out and use this Business Recycling Guide that covers how to recycle at work — from your water bottles and printer paper to responsible recycling for electronics, computers, fluorescent tubes, and cleaning chemicals.

Which Materials Can Be Recycled?

Office Recycling Guidelines: Basically the guidelines are the same as those you should be using at home. Click here for the full list.

All paper, cardboard, and containers are included in single-stream recycling programs. Paper includes office paper, magazines, newspapers and cardboard boxes. Containers include metal cans; glass bottles and jars; and plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, and jars.

A big part of what makes business recycling successful is single-stream recycling, where all recyclables can be combined in one container.

If your waste stream presents more unique or complex needs, you can talk to your waste and recycling hauler about options. You can also recycle all of your electronic equipment, fluorescent Tubes and Hazardous Waste through available collection or drop-off programs.

Do You Recycle at Your Business?

Did you know that the 1996 mandatory commercial recycling ordinance in Kane County requires all businesses and multi-family dwellings to recycle?

It also requires waste haulers to provide recycling services to their customers.
