Heads up if you regularly drive on Ellithorpe Road in the Burlington area.
The Kane County Division of Transportation has scheduled culvert replacement work to begin the week of May 3 on Ellithorpe Road between Peplow and Chapman Roads in Burlington.
Ellithorpe Road will be closed for about two months in order to safely and efficiently complete this work, and non-local traffic should look for the posted detour.
Work will consist of the demolition of the existing culvert, replacement with new precast concrete box culvert, resurfacing, landscape restoration, and all other work necessary to complete the project.
While the section of Ellithorpe Road between Peplow Road and Chapman Road will be closed to traffic during the duration of this project, local traffic only will still be permitted within the road closure. The posted detour will re-route traffic around the construction using Burlington Road, IL Route 47, Ramm Road, and Peplow Road.
Visit KDOT’S Traffic Advisories webpage for more information on road closures, detours, and active KDOT projects.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Drivers are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
