IDOT Will Resurface 4-Mile Stretch of IL Route 31 in Aurora — Lane Closures Start April 1

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today (Monday, March 29,2021) that a resurfacing of Lake Street (IL Route 31) from Rathbone Avenue to the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), in Aurora, will require daily, intermittent lane closures beginning Thursday, April 1.

The project consists of resurfacing the four-mile stretch of Lake Street and constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps. The road work is expected to be completed in late September.

IDOT says access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 3,300 miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is
investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation.

Year One included about $2.7 billion of improvements statewide on 1,706 miles of highway, 128 bridges and 228 additional safety improvements.
