Bliss Road will be temporarily restricted to one lane for passenger vehicles only (no trucks) traveling north between Healy Road and Main Street Road starting the week of March 15 to remove and replace the existing concrete box culvert.
During the duration of the project, no southbound travel will be allowed. The anticipated duration of the culvert replacement work is approximately four months, weather permitting, to allow for the safe demolition of the existing culvert and replacement with a new concrete box culvert.
Additional work includes earth excavation, ditch grading, new asphalt pavement, pavement markings, guardrail and streambank stabilization and restoration.
Motorists wishing to head southbound from Main Street Road are asked to follow the posted detour route utilizing Randall Road, Orchard Road, Tanner Road and Healy Road. A posted truck detour route has been established for northbound truck traffic using Healy, Tanner, Orchard and Randall Roads as truck traffic will not be permitted through the work zone.
All bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the use of the area during construction for the safety of both the workers and the motorists.
Visit the Kane County Division of Transportation Traffic Advisories webpage for more information on road closures, detours, and active KDOT projects.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. It is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
