WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UPDATE: After Snow, 4 Days of Dangerous Cold

UPDATED 4:45PM FRIDAY, FEB. 5

The snow is over but the the coldest weather in two years is here.

Early Snowfall Totals

These are official as of Friday:

  • O’Hare Airport: 2.4 inches
  • 3 SW Midway Airport: 2.9 inches
  • NWS Chicago (Romeoville): 4.4 inches
  • Rockford Airport: 1.6 inches

Slippery Saturday

Say it ain’t snow! Another round of snow and slippery travel conditions is expected Saturday, with the heaviest rates generally south of I-80.

While the snow will be fluffier than we’ve seen the past few storms, roadway treatments are not as effective with cold air temperatures so make sure to take it easy on the roads tomorrow.

4 Days of Cold

The cold and snowy pattern will continue through early next week.

While the snow won’t be continuous, several waves of fluffy snow look to come through the area over the next few days. Be sure to dress in multiple layers from head to toe, and drive safely on snow-covered roads.

Dangerous Wind Chills

Dangerously cold wind chills are expected over the weekend, particularly Sunday and Monday mornings.

Wind chills of 15 below to 25 below zero are possible by sunrise on each of those mornings.
