No Annual Parade, But There Will Be a ‘Pot of Gold’ at St. Charles’ 2021 St. Patrick’s Celebration!

The annual St. Patrick’s Celebration will look different this year compared to previous years. The event will have a decreased footprint due to health and safety restrictions from Executive Orders from the state guidelines.

The St. Charles St. Patrick’s Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 13, but will not include the St. Patrick’s Parade. In place of the parade, the St. Charles Business Alliance will be hosting events around town, including Roaming Bagpipers throughout downtown St. Charles from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday March 13, and a Lucky Photo Station on Riverside Avenue near Illinois Street. The Lucky Photo Station will be on display from March 13 to March 17 for the community to enjoy, with free giveaways from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The celebration will also include a Treasure Hunt, sponsored by McGrath Honda, where families can find Leprechauns in St. Charles businesses and be entered to win a “Pot of Gold” containing a selection of prizes from St. Charles Businesses.

St. Charles Businesses will also offer St. Patrick’s promotions and events including La Mesa’s famous Corned Beef Tacos, St. Patrick’s themed cupcakes and free frosting shots at Smallcakes Cupcakery, and traditional Irish fare at McNally’s Irish Pub. You can find a full list of these and more on the St. Patrick’s Celebration Website.

Darlene Riebe, a long time member of the St. Charles St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, said “Although we won’t be able to enjoy our traditional parade this year, the committee has created lots of innovative ways for our residents to still enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in our downtown, and we hope to bring the biggest and best parade back next year.”

The 2021 St. Charles St. Patrick’s Celebration is made possible by McGrath Honda of St. Charles, McNally’s Heating and Cooling, Corcoran Commercial Real Estate and Lakeshore Recycling Systems.
