Police Locate Man Who Reportedly Killed a Deer at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve

Police have located a man who reportedly illegally hunted a deer Sunday at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles.

According to the Forest Preserve District of Kane County Facebook page, a male hunter with three pre-teen children with him were seen dragging a deer from the LeRoy Oakes preserves around 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10.

Forest Preserve District officials asked residents on Facebook to call 9-1-1 and request a Forest Preserve District police office if they had any information to share.

At around 10:30 a.m. today (Monday, Jan. 11, 2021), FPDKC officials updated the Facebook post, saying police have located the individual and thanking the public for the assistance.

Deer hunting is not allowed in the Kane County forest preserves.

“The district has a carefully controlled deer management program; however, LeRoy Oakes FP is NOT a part of this program,” Forest Preserve officials said.

This article will be updated if charges are filed and more information is available from an official source.
