Elgin Covid Response Fund Releases an Additional $50,000 in Financial Assistance

The Elgin Covid Response Fund will grant an additional $50,000 to Centro De Información and the YWCA of Elgin for direct cash assistance to those Elgin residents in need.

The $50,000 was contributed to ECRF by the United Way Metro Chicago (formally United Way of Elgin), a steering committee member of the fund. ECRF has now distributed a total of $200,000 in direct cash assistance to Elgin individuals and families for housing and utilities, food, childcare and medical needs.

“United Way Metro Chicago is proud to contribute another $50,000 to the Elgin COVID Response Fund,” said Marcia McMahon of United Way Metro Chicago. “The people of Elgin have and will continue to be of the utmost importance to the United Way.”

The city of Elgin, in partnership with local and regional funders, established the Elgin COVID Response Fund in May of this year.  The purpose of the Elgin Covid Response Fund is to allocate support to those nonprofits who serve Elgin residents and are facing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ECRF was created through the leadership of the following partners:  the city of Elgin, Grand Victoria Foundation, United Way Metro Chicago (formally United Way of Elgin), Seigle Family Foundation, Kaptain Family Trust, Wisdom Family Foundation and Hoffer Family Foundation.

The fund is  hosted and administered at no cost by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
