Some Kane Libraries Switch to Holds Pickup Service Due to COVID-19

The St. Charles Public Library, Geneva Public Library and Fox River Valley Public Library systems have sent news releases saying they are closing buildings to the public and going with hold delivery — a trend that appears to be happening throughout Kane County.

Some libraries have “browse and go” options by appointment, but with Tier 3 mitigations going into effect Friday, it’s probably a good idea to check your local library’s website for the latest.

In order to promote the safety of the community and reduce the spread of COVID-19, the St. Charles Public Library will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020. The library will be returning to Vestibule Holds Pickup Service only by appointment, during normal operating hours.

ContactlessHolds Pickup Service is available by appointment only and allows patrons to reserve library materials and have them ready for pickup in the Library’s vestibule. Book returns are located at the front entrance of the Library, in the vestibule, or at our community book drops.

Though the building is closed to the public, the library will continue to provide the best services possible. The community is encouraged to use the library‘s online resources including eBooks, downloadable audiobooks and databases for homework help.

The library offers a variety of virtual programs as posted on SCPL at Home and our YouTube page. Our virtual programs remain available online.

The library will be posting updates and announcements regularly on scpld.org and on social media channels. Be sure to visit these sites for up-to-date information. For more information, please call 630-584-0076. The St. Charles Public Library is located temporarily at 305 South Ninth Street in St. Charles.
