Elgin Moves Council Meetings Online to Comply With Tier 2 COVID Mitigation Measures

To comply with the state of Illinois COVID-19 Resurgence Mitigation Measures, the city of Elgin’s upcoming special committee of the whole meetings and regularly scheduled city council meetings will occur virtually, until further notice.

According to a city of Elgin news release, City Council members will participate in meetings through teleconferencing or videoconferencing software.

Meeting video will be available for public viewing both live and after the meetings on the City of Elgin Facebook page and on the city’s website at cityofelgin.org/videocenter.

Public Comment

Those wishing to provide public comment for the meetings are encouraged to submit comments by email to the City Clerk or drop off written comments in person to the dropbox in the roundabout in front of City Hall, located at 150 Dexter Court. Public comments must be submitted by 4 p.m. on each meeting date.

With current restrictions in place, very limited space will be available in the council chambers of City Hall for those wishing to provide public comment in person during meetings.

Overflow seating with video feed of the meeting will be provided in the lobby of City Hall.

In-person holdings of city board and commission meetings will be determined on an individual basis as those group sizes and other circumstances differ.
