Who’s on The Ballot? Kane County Races Include Board Chairman, State’s Attorney

Kane County Board races on the Nov. 3 ballot include countywide contests for Kane County Board chairman, circuit clerk, auditor, coroner, recorder and state’s attorney as well as even-numbered County Board district races.

Republican L. Robert Russell is seeking re-election as coroner, but there is no Democratic candidate on the ballot. Voters can, of course, write in candidates. Click this link to learn more about the write-in process.

There are no incumbents seeking the office of County Board chairman and state’s attorney. Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen and Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon are not seeking re-election.

In the race for County Board chair, Democrat Corinne M. Pierog faces Republican David J. Rickert. In the state’s attorney race, Democrat Jamie Mosser faces Republican Robert “Bob” Spence.

For circuit clerk, Democrat Theresa Barreiro faces Republican Thomas M. (“Tom”) Hartwell. For auditor, Democrat Penny Wegman faces Republican Terry Hunt. For recorder, Democrat Brenda Rodgers faces Republican Sandy Wegman.

There are three uncontested races for County Board seats: Democrat Dale Berman in District 2, Democrat Ron Ford in District 6 and Democrat Michelle Gumz in District 8.

The contested County Board races are:

  • Democrat Mavis Bates versus Republican Tracy Miller in District 4.
  • Democrat Mary Kay Crantz versus Republican David J. Brown in District 10.
  • Democrat Ruth Kuzmanic versus Republican Kenneth C. Shepro in District 12.
  • Democrat William K. Bachman versus Republican Mark Davoust in District 14.
  • Democrat Megan Larson versus Republican Michael J. Kenyon in District 16.
  • Democrat Sandy Kaczmarski versus Republican Andrew E. “Drew” Frasz in District 18.
  • Democrat Cherryl Fritz Strathmann versus Republican Lucio Estrada in District 20.
  • Democrat Verner (Vern) Tepe versus Republican Douglas J. Scheflow in District 22.
  • Democrat Jarett Sanchez versus Republican Roberta “Bobbie” Andresen in District 24.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clerk’s Office is encouraging voters to consider options for early voting and vote by mail as well as voting at your polling place on Election Day.
