This article on trick-or-treat hours — which we post every year on Kane County Connects — is almost always on the list of top 10 most-read stories.

But we have a feeling this year’s clicks could be at an all-time high, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the variety of information that’s coming out.

Most or all Kane County communities are encouraging residents to leave outdoor lights on if they intend to hand out candy and to leave outdoor lights off if they do not. Some are even offering signs that residents can place in lawns saying whether they are “open” or “closed” for trick-or-treating.

Community websites universally recommend residents check the Centers For Disease Control guidelines for Halloween safety.
