The Elgin Covid Response Fund steering committee has announced the approval list for its second and final round of funding to nonprofit organizations, totaling $60,000.
The approved grant requests will provide direct financial assistance for housing and utilities, food and groceries, childcare and medical needs to individuals and families in Elgin.
The following 11 non-profit organizations were approved for funding:
- Community Crisis Center
- Centro de Información
- Association for Individual Development
- Boys & Girls Club of Elgin
- Chinese Mutual Aid Association
- Food for Greater Elgin
- Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project
- Easterseals Dupage & Fox Valley
- Society of St. Vincent DePaul Conference of St. Thomas More/St. Laurence
- St. Mary’s Conference of St. Vincent DePaul
- Youth Leadership Academy
With this final round of grants, the ECRF has distributed nearly $150,000 to help those in need in the Elgin community during the pandemic.
“To all who contributed and joined this effort, from the family foundations to the small businesses, to the individuals and families who gave what they could to help others, thank you for your generosity,” Elgin Mayor David Kaptain said.
The ECRF is a collaboration between the city of Elgin, United Way Metro Chicago (formally United Way of Elgin), Grand Victoria Foundation, Seigle Family Foundation, Kaptain Family Trust, and Wisdom Family Foundation and relied on donations from individual, corporate and foundation supporters.
The fund is hosted and administered at no cost by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
