On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Canadian National Railroad will be closing Plank Road (County Highway No. 38) at the railroad crossing about one mile west of Burlington Road in the village of Burlington.
According to a Kane County Department of Transportation news release, the full road closure will allow for the railway crossing to be safely reconstructed, improving the riding surface for Plank Road motorists.
The road is scheduled to be closed at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and is expected to reopen by 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.
The posted detour route will use Burlington Road, Walker Road, IL Route 72, and IL Route 23 to divert traffic around the construction area. (See the map below.)
Motorists should be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and to obey all traffic control devices.
KDOT officials remind drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone.
Any questions or concerns may be directed to the Kane County Division of Transportation’s Kurt Nika, at 630-584-1171.
