County Board Opposes Subdivision Disconnection From Fire Rescue District

The Kane County Board last week passed a resolution opposing the disconnection of a St. Charles Township subdivision from the Fox River Countryside Fire/Rescue District.

According to the executive summary posted on the County Board agenda packet, the resolution is in opposition of the disconnection of The County Line Subdivision from the fire district “pending negotiations relating to potential annexation and/or contractual renewals.”

The resolution says County Line Subdivision consists of 43 parcels off Kautz Road and presently is within the protection area of the Fox River Countryside District.

Fire District officials have announced their intention to disconnect the County Line Subdivision, which then would be within the West Chicago Fire Protection District.

The city of West Chicago is in DuPage County.

Residents of the subdivision say they are opposing the move because their tax rates would go up and the nearest fire station would be seven miles from the subdivision.

The full resolution is as follows and can be read on the County Board agenda packet PDF.
