Consolidated Election Packets Available Electronically starting on Sept. 22
Election packets for the 2021 village of Algonquin Consolidated Election will be available beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020.
Courtesy packets can be obtained electronically at www.algonquin.org/electionpacket
Village president, village clerk and three village trustee seats are up for election; each a four-year term.

2021 Election Candidate Guide Now Available
Residents interested in running for Geneva City Council in 2021 can find a candidate guide posted on the city’s website.
The guide provides election information on how to file for candidacy and all required forms. Nominating petitions may not be circulated before Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The positions for mayor, city clerk, and treasurer along with one aldermanic seat in Wards 1, 3, 4, and 5 are open with each carrying a four-year term. The 2nd Ward has two seats up for election, with one running for two years and the other for four years.
Candidates can file their petitions from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays from Monday, Dec. 14 through Monday, Dec. 21 at Geneva City Hall, 109 James St.
The candidates will run in the April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election. For more election information, visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website.
Elgin City Council to Have 4 Open Council Seats
Petitions for candidacy for the 2021 Elgin municipal election are available in the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, Room 202, located at 150 Dexter Court in Elgin.
The Elgin City Council will have the position of four Councilmember seats for a four year term open in the 2021 election. Prospective candidates can begin circulating petitions beginning Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Necessary qualifications to hold the office of Councilmember include:
- Qualified elector/registered voter
- Resident of the city of Elgin at least one year prior to the election
- Not being in arrears in payment of tax or other indebtedness due to the city of Elgin.
- Not convicted in any court located in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury or other felony
Petitions for nomination must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office no sooner than 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, and no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The placement of names on the ballot will be in the order of filing.
A Consolidated Primary Election will only be required if more than 16 electors file their candidacy for the four councilmember terms up for election. If a Consolidated Primary Election is necessary, it will be held on Feb. 23, 2021. The Consolidated General Election will be held on April 6, 2021.

Petitions for nomination for trustee of Community College District 509 (Elgin Community College) may be downloaded at https://elgin.edu/about-ecc/
The first day to circulate nominating petitions is Tuesday, Sep. 22, 2020, for the April 6, 2021, consolidated election.
A minimum of 50 signatures of registered voters residing in Community College District 509 are needed for a candidate’s name to be placed on the ballot.
Illinois community college trustees hold a six-year term of office, and two positions are currently up for the consolidated election, April 6, 2021.

2021 Consolidated Election Packets Available
Nomination Packets for the 2021 Consolidated Election will be available starting on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Residents may pick up their packet at the Reception Desk in the St. Charles Municipal Building, 2 E. Main St., from 8 a.m. o 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you prefer to have your packet emailed, please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org and it will be sent by the next business day. Petitions cannot be circulated for signature before Sept. 22, 2020.
The completed nomination packets must be filed between Dec. 14 and Dec. 21, 2020. All forms are due to the City Clerk’s office, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, by 5 p.m. Dec. 21, 2020.
The 2021 Consolidated Election will be held April 6, 2021. The following offices, which hold four-year terms, are up for election:
- Mayor, (currently Raymond Rogina)
- City Clerk (currently Charles Amenta)
- City Treasurer (currently Jo Krieger)
- Alderman, Ward 1 (currently Ron Silkaitis)
- Alderman, Ward 2 (currently Art Lemke)
- Alderman, Ward 3 (currently Lucy Gruber)
- Alderman, Ward 4 (currently Lora Vitek)
- Alderman, Ward 5 (currently Maureen Lewis)
