Resurfacing Work Completed, All Lanes Back Open on State Street Bridge in Downtown Geneva

Resurfacing Work Completed, All Lanes Back Open on State Street Bridge in Downtown Geneva

Lanes were closed since May on the State Street bridge in Geneva, but they’re back open today, with the exception of some temporary closures for final touch-ups.

The Illinois Department of Transportation opened all lanes of traffic on the State Street (IL Route 38) bridge Aug. 14, but the State Street still has a few remaining items to finish with the resurfacing project.

According to a city of Geneva news release, here is what IDOT has on tap the week of Aug. 17:

  • Complete remaining bike path work;
  • Spray protective coat on two northside piers; and
  • Punch list items

The bridge resurfacing began in late May. Check back on the blog for project updates. For more information, visit the State Street bridge construction web page.
