Starting the week of Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, construction activities will begin on the multi-use path along the west side of Kirk Road from Pine Street to approximately 1,500 feet south of Fabyan Parkway in Batavia, Kane County.
During the work, there may be temporary single lane closures of southbound Kirk Road with flaggers directing traffic to allow construction crews to safely complete this work.
Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The work is anticipated to be complete by Oct. 30, 2020.
The work will include setting up erosion and traffic controls, tree trimming, earth work, asphalt removal, placement of stone and asphalt, and restoration of the parkway. A new press release and additional signage will be provided prior to any new traffic pattern changes due the construction activities.
Kirk Road will remain open during construction, but may be reduced to one lane of travel southbound using temporary daily lane closures.
Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Please watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas and may want to add additional time to their commutes and/or consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
