UPDATE: Kane County Bike Share System Starts July 31 — Batavia Ribbon-Cutting Postponed

The city of Aurora, Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin, city of Batavia, and village of Montgomery have partnered with the Kane County Division of Transportation to launch the Fox Valley Bike Share System on Friday, July 31.

The partner municipalities are all contracting with Koloni to provide the initial rollout of a unified and seamless bike share system in the Fox Valley. Additional municipal sponsors will join the system in 2021.

Each of the four municipalities in the initial partnership will host ribbon cuttings and promotional events at various times.

The Batavia ribbon-cutting event, which had been planned for Friday, July 31, has been postponed because the bikes were not delivered as originally anticipated. This article will be updated when plans are set.

Organizers had hoped to have the bike-share program in place for the full Summer/Fall 2020 riding season, but the launch of the system was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now moving forward under Phase 4 regulations in the state’s recovery plan, the partner municipalities are contracting with Koloni to provide the initial roll out of a unified and seamless bike share system in the Fox Valley.

It is anticipated that additional municipal sponsors will join to become a part of the system in 2021.
