Elgin Firefighters Save More Than a Dozen Pets From Sunday House Fire

Elgin firefighters saved more than a dozen pets from a house fire Sunday (July 26, 2020) in the 1000 block of Polly Court.

According to an Elgin Fire Department news release, Fire Department personnel responded at around 8:31 a.m. Sunday and arrived within four minutes to see smoke coming from the front of the home.

The homeowner was outside and told crews that everyone was out of the home, other than several dogs and cats.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire in under 15 minutes. Fire damage was limited to the bedroom, but there was smoke damage throughout the home.

No firefighters or residents were injured. More than a dozen pets were safely removed from the home.

The fire is being investigated for the cause.
