SAVE THE DATE: Recycle Electronics, Clothes, Books, Latex Paint at July 11 Extravaganza!

Kane County’s next recycling event is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2020. Items that will be accepted for recycling and reuse include: electronics, clothing, books and paint. See the eRecycling Event webpage for more details.

In a normal year, this would have been the Annual Recycling Extravaganza, but Kane County has scaled it down because of the constraints of working under the high level safety protocol related to COVID-19.

NEW: Spray Paint Cans will be accepted at this event!

Flat Can Recycling will now be working with Kane County to recycle spray cans (full or empty) at events, and they have drop-off locations throughout the Chicago area.

We’ll share some details on this in an upcoming article.

Shred Events Postponed Until Further Notice

Confidential document shredding will not be offered at events until further notice.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and are working on logistical planning in order to hopefully conduct shredding on Aug. 8, Sept. 12 and Nov. 14, if possible,” Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland said. “Please check this webpage in advance to see if it is happening.”

The next recycling article will offer other options for recycling the items that we will not be taking at this year’s extravaganza — such as batteries, bikes, florescent tubes, scrap metal and Styrofoam.
