Village of Mongtomery officials announced today (Thursday, May 28, 2020) that they have made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020 Montgomery Fest.
“The village has spent the last two months reviewing guidance from the state of Illinois, the CDC, and other sources and determined that conducting the event in the current climate, while ensuring the health and safety of both residents and staff, is not possible,” officials said in a news release. “This decision was not made lightly, as we know how much Montgomery Fest means to the community.”
The event is one that residents of Montgomery and people throughout the area look forward to each year — with live music, car shows, parades, carnivals, food, fishing and fireworks. All activities take place at Montgomery Park, at the corner of River and Mill Street, unless otherwise noted.
“We look forward to everyone gathering together Aug. 13 through Aug.15 next year and in the meantime hope that we all continue to support one another,” officials said.
