The St. Charles Business Alliance has put together a remarkable plan to jump start local business reopenings, boost marketing and reorganize events to bring people to the community.
The Business Alliance on Thursday (May 29, 2020) unveiled a “Back to Business Plan” that contains three key initiatives in response to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
$5,000 Business Reopening Grant
One element of the Back to Business Plan is the “Re-Open St. Charles Support Grant,” which is intended to provide financial assistance to reopen businesses located in St. Charles that have been closed or have seen significant reduction in revenue due to the pandemic.
Each business can apply on a first come, first served basis and may receive up to $5,000. Businesses can use the grant money for re-opening expenses such as safety equipment, outdoor furniture and other reopening costs. More information on the grant will become available soon.
Marketing and events will also see a shift in the plan. To start, the Alliance will be crafting promotional videos, which will showcase St. Charles culture and the amenities of the town. These will be made in partnership with Love Productions to create professional quality videos that will be available on streaming services and channels such as CNN, HGTV, NBC Sports and more.
Although travel has seen a downturn, the Alliance will also be unveiling St. Charles itineraries for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. These will highlight St. Charles scenes, businesses, locations and more in order to bring people to explore the community, while promoting St. Charles businesses.
Another item the Alliance hopes will bring people to St. Charles is the BE YOU outdoor letter sculpture. The Alliance has been working with renowned artist Matthew Hoffman, who has created art for Oprah Winfrey.
He will be creating positive affirmation art that will be promoted on NBC Chicago’s Today Show, which the Alliance hopes will draw more recognition to the area.
New Events Schedule
With the shift in marketing comes the shift in events. The Alliance recently announced it is hosting the St. Charles Pickup Restaurant Week, which will be hosted on June 8 o June 14.
The event will feature 20% off orders of $20 or more (excluding alcohol, tax and gratuity) at participating restaurants. Individuals who want to use the discount on their order may show the coupon — available at the Alliance’s website www.stcalliance.org and on their social media– or mention the restaurant week details to participating restaurants.
Lastly, the Alliance merged the St. Charles Fine Art Show – which was to take place on Memorial Day weekend – with St. Charles Jazz Weekend. The new event — The Fine Art and Jazz Weekend — will take place on Sept. 10-13.
