The Fox River Ecosystem Partnership has invited a panel of experts to discuss Lake/Pond Shoreline Management — a topic of significant importance to staff and public officials of municipalities, park districts and forest preserves, members of home owner associations and individual property owners who are responsible for the management and maintenance of lakes and ponds.
The program is free, open to the public and takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, in Room 201/202 of the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, Geneva.
The panel discussion will be moderated by FREP President Jeff Mengler of Hey and Associates. Panel participants are Keith Jones, V3 Companies; Bill Bedrosian, Bedrock EarthScapes; Jeff Palmquist, Fox Valley Park District; and Sarah Voska, Bluestem Ecological Services.
Lakes and ponds that require active shoreline management to address and prevent erosion are scattered throughout the watershed. FREP’s panel of experts and professionals will share best management techniques, solutions, and lessons learned.
Anyone who lives along or near a pond or lake shoreline, or who works for an organization charged with managing shorelines should attend this program to learn current best practices and lessons learned from these experts.
The program will also give insights into the benefits of native landscaping around ponds and lakes.
The Fox River Ecosystem Partnership was established in 1996 representing the entire Fox River Watershed in Illinois, covering 1,720 square miles situated within the counties of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry and Will.
FREP membership includes individuals, governments, organizations and businesses that meet regularly “to promote, preserve, protect and enhance the natural, cultural, economic and recreational resources of Illinois’ Fox River and its watershed.”
