An Aurora man has been indicted on felony charges for punching a man multiple times while they were seated in a Kane County courtroom.
A Kane County grand jury on Sept. 24, 2019, indicted 27-year-old Rasheed L. Norman for the offense of aggravated battery, Class 3 felony, 2 counts.
Kane County prosecutors allege that on Aug. 26, Norman, unprovoked, struck the victim on the head and body, causing bodily harm, while in Courtroom 203 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles Township.
Norman is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Oct. 10, 2019, in Courtroom 217 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
If convicted, Norman faces a sentence of probation or between two and five years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The charges against Norman are not proof of guilt. Norman is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
