July 28 STEAM Night at SciTech Makes Summer Meaningful

It is estimated that over the next decade, the United States’ demand for college graduates with degrees in STEM fields is expected to increase at four times the rate of the demand for all other degrees.

So it’s important for teens with math, science and technology skills to keep their minds active during the summer.

But an intellect without a soul is what? A computer? Aren’t the arts and design just as important?

And what about free pizza? Shouldn’t that count for something?

It does, at least to a group of people who are trying to make summers more meaningful for young people in Aurora.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, all of those elements — science, technology, engineering, arts, design, mathematics and free pizza — will come together under the banner of STEAM at SciTech Museum, 18 W. Benton St., Aurora.

“We hope to encourage Aurora students to get excited about STEAM-related activities by organizing a STEAM Night at SciTech Museum in Aurora,” organizers said in a news release.

STEAM Night will take place on July 28th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for students in Grades 1-5 and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for for students in Grades 6-12. Complimentary pizza will be served at the event.

The night’s agenda will include speakers, competitions, robotics and an open booth and SciTech session.
