‘Future Leaders’ Program Now Available to Kane County Students

Wanted: a few good future leaders.

Kane County is encouraging high school students be a part of the 2017 Future Leaders in Planning Summer Youth Leadership Development Program made available through the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.

There is no cost to students, and the opportunities are considerable.

About Future Leaders in Planning

Future Leaders in Planning is the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning premier leadership development program for high school students in Northeastern Illinois.

At no cost to themselves, teens across the region will become involved in the issues that shape our region and share thoughts with other teens from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.

Participants will also meet and interact with selected regional leaders who make key planning decisions in our communities. Learn more in a behind-the-scenes video.

Apply to FLIP

CMAP’s Future Leaders in Planning engages local high school students who would like to learn about planning and contribute to a better future for our region. To enhance participants’ experience, starting in July this youth leadership development program will transition to a one-week summer format rather than its prior schedule of monthly meetings throughout the school year.

Students can apply on-line or by downloading and completing the PDF version of the application. The 2017 Summer FLIP program will run from July 24 through July 29 and applications are due Monday, May 15, 2017. Applicants will be notified about the status of their application by Monday, June 5, 2017.

Teachers, counselors, mentors, or community leaders completing reference forms on behalf of FLIP applicants can do so by filling out the reference form on-line or by downloading the reference form PDF and emailing the completed form to mprasse@cmap.illinois.gov.
