The city of Aurora, in collaboration with Kane County and other Fox River Valley communities, will host GreenTown Aurora on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Two Brothers Roundhouse. The event will bring together the public and private sectors to share ideas and promote the collaborative implementation of ongoing sustainability initiatives.
The city of Aurora hosted its first GreenTown event in 2008. Seven years later, the event “will provide an opportunity to see how far our region has come, while advancing the goal of developing the Fox River Valley as a sustainability leader in the Chicago region and across the state of Illinois,” Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner said.
The conference agenda will feature a presentation on the state of the Fox River and include a variety of breakout sessions in the categories of Green Infrastructure, Resource Conservation, and Healthy Communities & Mobility. Several Kane County government staff members will be presenting at the event, including Karen Miller and Matt Tansley from the Kane County Development & Community Services Department, Jackie Forbes and Mike Isaacson from the Kane County Health Department, and Jennifer Jarland from the Kane County Division of Environmental & Water Resources.
